One needs to realize that not all acne products are the same. Have you ever been surprised that why a certain product which works well for your friend shows no result when it is used on your skin? This is because each skin type is different and would require a different acne product.
In families, it is found that if more than one person is suffering from acne, they tend to use the same product for treating it. A similar scenario is with a group of friends. If one friend finds a certain product to be effective, it is likely to influence the product choice of the other friends.
In such scenarios, one needs to understand that each skin type is different. Hence, the treatment also would be different for each type. An oily skin would require a different treatment from a normal skin for acne.
The acne product companies are usually aware of this factor and make different products. Ever wondered why the acne cream that you usually buy also has a lotion version? Why would the company invest in producing a water based cream or a regular cream or lotion for the same acne product that it is readily selling?
This is because the company knows the science behind the products that it is selling. However, lots of times, it is the ignorance of the customer that makes her fall for the wrong product for herself.
Let's understand which acne product works for which type of skin:-
Oily Skin: This kind of skin if suffering from acne, would respond very well to products that are alcohol solution based. These products provide lesser moisturizing to the skin and easily evaporate. They work best for oily skin, as they do not make the skin heavy with more oil or other ingredients.
Normal Skin: If one has a normal to oily skin or a mixed skin, one can go in for a large range of suitable products that are readily available in the market. Aqueous solutions, gels, foams, lotions, creams, etc. all work well for this type of skin. These different products have varying moisturizing levels. One can go in for any type of acne product in this category as per preference and budget.
Dry Skin: Ointments work best for skins that range from normal to dry. These ointments usually tend to be greasy in nature and hence, work well for acne prone. An acne solution usually makes the skin dry and can turn the skin to extra rough in case it's already dry to begin with. A greasy base works well here.
Thus, before buying an acne product the next time, ensure that you are opting for the right one that's in sync with your skin.
